We are the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, a joyful Christian congregation, of over 300 members, made up primarily of Vietnamese Americans who love God and witness to our faith in Jesus Christ through our dedicated service to the needs of the Vietnamese community in San Diego.
The Church’s core focus continues to be a Christian outreach to the Vietnamese community. Ministering within our community where there are limited resources, language and culture barriers and little understanding of the Episcopal Church, the growth and development of our outreach programs have been a challenging journey for us. Nonetheless, we are proud of our discipleship, the growth of our congregation and the trust relationships we have built with our community over the years. We are especially excited about the great success that God has given us with our youth and young adult ministries and we continue to emphasize ministry to future generations of our Church and the wider Vietnamese community.
We are now entering a new and exciting era for Resurrection. We have just completed a significant renovation project to our campus and are far better equipped to minister to our members and serve the needs of the greater community. It is a great honor for us to be in this position, and with God’s help, we are now better prepared to expand our ministries and meet the needs of the future.
Our Mission
to grow our congregation, to expand our ministry to the Vietnamese community and to become a self-sufficient congregation. Our goals in the next three to five years are to:
•
increase our active church membership to 200 by 2010.
•
enhance our facilities to meet the needs of our growing children’s ministry
•
recruit and develop leaders for our youth and young adult ministries and build on the current success of these programs
•
continue to assimilate the Vietnamese culture into Episcopal traditions
•
double the amount of our weekly program offerings to the community by 2010
•
expand our stewardship ministry and be financially self-sufficient by 2012
•
collaborate with other Vietnamese organizations of San Diego, thereby increasing our visibility
•
become a center of activity for the greater Vietnamese community
Our Vision
We are a Spirit-filled Christian Community seeking to:
•
Be faithful disciples by glorifying God in all that we say and do
•
Welcome all people into the life and ministry of our congregation
•
Show our faith in Christ by meeting the needs of the community with compassion and generosity
•
Make new disciples by witnessing to Christ’s love and grace in our own lives
