Cursillo

The San Diego Episcopal Cursillo community was founded to meet the growing spiritual needs of Episcopalians in the Diocese of San Diego. It is part of a world-wide community which began with the Roman Catholic Cursillo movement. Its purpose is to help those in the church understand their individual callings to be Christian leaders.

Faith Alive

A renewal weekend for congregations of all sizes, Faith Alive emphasizes the sharing of personal faith stories for the purpose of spiritual renewal. Stories of faith bring fresh focus to how one's vows of baptism provide a formula for living a life pleasing to God. No teaching, no preaching, no church politics; simply faith-building worship and the sharing of answered prayers and similar experiences of God's love. To learn more, contact the Rev. Canon Jenny Vervynck: vervynck@edsd.org.

Center for Today's Pilgrim

The Reverend Amanda May's Center for Today's Pilgrim recently opened in Point Loma near All Souls' Episcopal Church. A retreat center nestled in a quiet neighborhood, the center offers retreats on a variety of topics, including: "Spirituality," "The Christian Life," "On Pilgrimage," "The Church Year," "Saints & Martyrs" and "Exploring the Scriptures."

A beautiful, sand labyrinth decorated with pieces of colored glass adorns the garden. The center contains a sign that simply says, "Beloved." This is one of the many meditative tools available at the center; May also facilitates small group discussions, lectures, guided imagery, movies, art presentations, music and more.

Workshops are typically half-day or full-day sessions whereas retreats are generally one evening plus one full day, but can be longer. May offers off-site workshops and retreats as well.

Ocean breezes blow gently on this oasis and May's open-heartedness warms the experience of everyone who crosses the threshold.
