Ministry, a Community Endeavor

The ministers of the Church are lay persons, bishops, priests, and deacons.
The Book of Common Prayer, p. 855

At its best, ministry is as much a collective activity as it is an individual enterprise. In recognition of this reality, the Diocese performs much of its ministry through small groups, specifically commissions and committees. Central among these are the Annual Convention, the Corporation’s Board of Directors, and the Standing Committee. Collectively, they provide overarching leadership and governance for the Diocese.

Between sessions, the Annual Convention delegates authority to the Diocesan Council for implementing resolutions. To do so effectively, the Council relies on several Commissions, each with a mandate pertaining to a specific area of diocesan life. In a similar vein, the Corporation relies on a committee structure to accomplish much of its work.
