Committees and Commissions
The top level commissions and committees are as follows:
Christian Education Commission, which is dedicated to moving individuals of all ages to growth in faith and in the practice of the Christian life. The work of this commission culminates in the Diocesan Speakers Program.
Commission on Ordained Ministry, which works to bring forward leaders within congregations and the diocese and guide them on the path to ordination.
The Committee on Ordained Ministry (commonly referred to simply as “the COM”) assists the bishop in recruiting and selecting persons for the diaconate and priesthood. It guides and examines individuals through several stages in the ordination process, specifically the steps leading to postulancy, candidacy, and the transitional diaconate, if the person is a candidate for priesthood.
The Committee consists of nine members, five clergy and four laity, who are appointed by the bishop for staggered, three year terms. It is one of three canonically mandated committees of the Commission for Development and Nurture of Ministry.

Convention Committee, which is responsible for the planning and production of the annual diocesan convention.
Social Justice Commission, which urges and helps congregations to include social witness as part of its common life by raising issues of social concern, advocating for social change, and providing congregations the tools they need in order to work for that change.
Strategic Planning Committee, which aims to develop and implement a living plan that reflects the particularities of being a diocese in this time and place while guiding us toward a brighter future.
Development Committee , which provides support and advice to the development director and shepherds the fundraising projects of the diocese.
