Title: Bishop’s Appeal: How It’s Different from the Parish Pledge

Each congregation contributes to the mission and ministry of our diocese through their Mission Share Pledge, a fixed percentage of our annual. Those funds cover 70% of the work we are called by God to do as a diocese. The balance of about $110,000 per year comes from individual pledges, gifts and special investment income. The Bishop’s Appeal allows us to do so much more as a collective whole than we can as individual congregations including worldwide ministry in places like Mexico, El Salvador and Kenya. Our diocese also attracts new clergy while fostering the growth of seasoned clergy members through continuing education offerings. Ministering to our ministers keeps the lifeblood of our churches fresh and vital. Seminarian support, veteran support, ministry on college campuses, and many other aspects of diocesan life flourish because of your generosity. Please make your gift to the Bishop’s Appeal today on our secure, convenient web site: www.edsd.org/bishopsappeal. Thank you for helping to build these important ministries.

Announcement

As Episcopalians we’re a part of something greater than ___________ (church name). We’re a part of the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego. Our diocese reaches out to others on our behalf, helping them when no one else can. The Diocese of El Salvador benefits from our diocesan support, funding schools, homes and medical clinics in places where those things are considered luxuries. That’s only one of the ways our diocese connects us to the greater whole that is the worldwide Anglican Communion --  a network of churches tied together by our common liturgy and creeds. Help show your support of our diocese by donating to the Bishop’s Appeal. The goal is $110,000 for 2011 and we’re halfway there. You can donate online: edsd.org/bishopsappeal or mail your donation to their address, which is on the website: edsd.org. Thank you for making the Bishop’s Appeal successful.
