Collect for the Day
Almighty and everlasting God, who has called us to be bearers of peace and neighbor to the one in need the midst of times filled with anxiety and anger: Give us courage to not be changed and distorted by visions and memories of destruction, evil, injustice and terror, but leads us to be children of light who bear a vision of your peaceable kingdom. For hope is stronger than fear, faith is stronger than doubt, and love is stronger than hate. Secure in the shadow of the cross that convicts and saves us, we give our lives in service to you and pray your kingdom come, through your Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Alternate Propers for the Day

A Litany for September 11th
On this fourth remembrance of the terrorist attacks of September 11th, let us kneel in silence and turn over all our fears, sorrows, and anxieties to God:
(Silence)
For those who died in the terrorist attacks on September 11th in 2001.
Lord, have mercy.
For their families and all who grieve.
Lord, have mercy.
For those who have died in natural disasters, especially in the devastation
of Hurricane Katrina and the Tsunami.
Lord, have mercy.
For those who lost their homes, their businesses, their livelihood through
either the madness of others or through the seeming madness of the seas.
Lord, have mercy.
For the firefighters, police officers, and other rescue workers who gave their
lives in hopes of saving others.
Lord, have mercy.
For those who save and serve those in the destroyed areas of the Gulf coast.
Lord, have mercy.
For the men and women of our armed services, particularly those serving in
Iraq and Afghanistan, and for their families.
Lord, have mercy.
For those who have died in the service of their country.
Lord, have mercy.
For the devastation of city and countryside both in this country, in Afghanistan,
Iraq and throughout the world.
Lord, have mercy
For our president, George, and all others in authority.
Lord, have mercy.
For those who tirelessly work for peace.
Lord, have mercy.
Lord Jesus Christ, you said to your apostles, “Peace I give to you; my own peace I leave with you: “Regard not our sins, but the faith of your Church, and give to us the peace and unity of that heavenly City, where with the Father and the Holy Spirit you live and reign, now and for ever. Amen.
