Capital Campaigns
From time to time in the life of any community or organization, special or extraordinary challenges and opportunities will arise which can only be addressed by special or extraordinary generosity. Common examples are the construction of new buildings or the renovation of long-standing ones, the launch of major new initiatives or programs, and the retirement of debt.
“Capital campaigns” are the method by which churches – and the Diocese –typically go about meeting such goals. Following a preliminary “feasibility study” (which is designed to determine what monetary goal is feasible), the church or other institution will then seek contributions from its members and friends to realize the vision expressed in the campaign’s case statement. These gifts are extraordinary in that they are given above and beyond the giver’s ordinary (annual) pledge of support.
