Anglican Peace and Justice Network

2005 marked the Anglican Peace and Justice Network's 20th anniversary. Its meeting in Jerusalem in September 2004 brought it full circle to its first full meeting which also took place in the City of Peace in 1985. This group is dedicated to the promotion of a peaceful and just world.

HIV/AIDS in Southern Africa reached the level of a pandemic in 1994.

Here are some statistics to consider:

 

 

In response to this crisis, in March 2001, Archbishop of Cape Town and Metropolitan, the Most Reverend Njongonkulu Ndungane, was given the mandate to develop a communion-wide understanding of the scope of the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Africa.

 

His first task was to bring together the leadership of the African churches through the Council of Anglican Provinces in Africa (CAPA) to determine the breadth and scope of this pandemic, as well as the potential responses to be made. The All Africa Anglican Conference on HIV/AIDS was held in Boksburg, South Africa, in August 2001.

International Anglican Family Network

The International Anglican Family Network is one of the networks of the world wide Anglican Communion. It began at the Mission of St James and St John in Melbourne, Australia, in 1987 and produced an important resource document on families for the 1988 Lambeth Conference when Anglican Bishops from all over the world met together in Canterbury.
